Academic Services Librarian

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an Academic Services Librarian (Psychology) at our busy Library, Archives and Learning Services. Based in the Academic Services team, the postholder will be responsible for liaising with the School of Psychology to develop services and collections to meet the emerging learning, teaching, research and knowledge exchange needs of academic staff, students and others.

Primarily based at Stratford Campus within the Academic Services Team, the Academic Services Librarian will be responsible for liaising closely with the School of Psychology, developing an understanding of their learning, teaching and research needs to inform and guide library, information and learning support. They will work closely with colleagues to develop services for both on- and off-campus users, and to develop and provide learning materials in a range of media using appropriate learning technologies and tools for both synchronous and asynchronous information skills training.

The Academic Services Librarian will also work closely with the Academic Services Manager and Digital Services team to develop our collections, archives and electronic information services through selection, replacement and relegation, ensuring continued relevance to the academic needs of the School with an appropriate balance of print and electronic resources. They will also work closely with the Scholarly Communications Manager to support the research activities within the School.

Either a qualified librarian or working towards the qualification, you will have a keen understanding of the central role that the Library plays in supporting academic attainment and enhancing the student experience. You will be user-focused with good organisational skills, and an ability to build strong working relationships within the School of Psychology, across the university and beyond. You will possess a proactive and innovative approach to developing library services, particularly through supporting learning and teaching, with a keen understanding of the needs of a diverse student body.
